Germaine Monteil was born in 1898 in France but moved to New York in 1930's. Monteil, a New York-based French fashion designer launched her own design house bearing her name that focuses on cosmetics and fragrances. Germaine Monteil perfumery business begun in 1936 when she founded Germaine Monteil Cosmetiques Corp. together with her husband Guy Bjorkma. The company specialized in creams and skin treatments.
