Van Cleef & Arpels was founded by Alfred Van Cleef and his brother-in-law Charles Arpels as a jewelry design house. With their expertise and immense attention to detail, these two jewelers apace success, opening their first boutique in 1960 at Place Vedome. Their designs are a must have among royalties, celebrities, socialites and other prominent people of the era. By 1942, the family decided to migrate to the US, continued with their business and opened their first American shop in New York. However, by 1999 the company was bought by Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A. Their first venture into the fragrance world happened in 1978, where they released First Perfume for women. Flankers emerged the following years, and a series of other scents were also released. Today, the brands have released dozens of colognes and perfumes adored by the masses.
