Comme des Garcons is a Japanese house established in 1969 by Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe. After opening its first store in the high fashion district of Tokyo, the fashion brand was highly successful during the 1970s and added a menswear line in 1978. 1981 saw Commes Des Garcons open its Paris boutique and attracted lots of attention due to its unconventional designs.
